Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a Berean?
A: The term Berean is used to identify groups of believers who do not depend on
the opinions of any religion, traditional or denominational view when it comes to understanding
God's Word. We identify with the believers that were from the city of Berea which Paul
referred to in Acts 17:
Act 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by
night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more
noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and
searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
The Bereans always squared everything they heard with
the written Word of God - nothing was left open to opinion, speculation, a "mission statement" or
by some organization's "bylaws". This is the way we study the Word at Berean Bible
Church. We do not assemble to practice religion, put on light and sound shows and do things
to impress the masses. We assemble for one purpose alone, that to study the Word of God
"rightly divided" as laid out by the pattern set down by the Apostle Paul (2 Tim 2:15) - in the
Dispensation of Grace delivered to him by the risen Lord Jesus Christ. The present
dispensation of Grace supersedes any prior doctrine pertaining to the practices of faith. It
sets aside practices such as Water Baptism and other rituals that were part of the old Jewish
religion and replaces it with the completed cross-work of the Lord Jesus Christ which requires
absolutely nothing on the part of the believer aside from his belief. (1 Cor 15:1-4, Rom 4:5,
Rom 16:25-26, Eph 2:8-9). Such ritualistic practices today are sometimes offered as a
"testimony" - however when studying dispensationally (as a Berean) it is clear that these rituals
render the cross of none-effect and, at the very least, create confusion.
1Co 1:17 For Christ sent me not
to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be
made of none effect.
We also believe, practice and teach that the Word of God is
contained completely and without error in one English translation: the King James Version. It
is by overwhelming manuscript evidence that this conclusion is arrived at once the facts are
known. All other English translations have their basis in only two or three manuscripts of
highly questionable origin and containing thousands of conflicts between them.
Please spend some time on our website and send your friends
here. The bible studies are extensive and growing all the time. Remember, however, to
be a Berean and take nothing you read or hear spoken by others at face-value - always
validate what is said or written with the Written Word of God.
Q: If we have a grace church web site - can we
let you know about it so others who surf to your site might know about it?
A: Yes. Please use the contact webmaster form a link can be
found bottom right side on most pages for updates. provide the
link and short note to be posted on our links page!
Q: It takes forever for me to download audio, due to
the age of my computer. In the future, will there be written studies to accompany all the audio
studies. I found myself going through the list wishing that there were written studies for some of
the audio ones.
A: Yes, if the title is linked then there is an available study in print. We are working on categorizing
the print, audio and videos to make it easier to find formats and subjects.
