What Is This Thing Called Grace?
Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
The word “justified” in the above verse means “to be declared righteous”.
This justification is free to all who would put their trust in the finished cross work of Christ in
his death, burial and resurrection.
Freely means just that – freely. You cannot buy it. You cannot earn it. You cannot merit it.
It is freely given because the redemption is in Christ Jesus, not in anything that we can do.
The righteousness that God requires is the righteousness he supplies for us.
God is not looking for us to be good enough to go to heaven. He already knows that in and of ourselves
we are not perfect.
That’s what sin is, sin is not being perfect. And because God knows we cannot be perfect he has supplied
a way for us to receive freely “his” righteousness.
It is not through going to church. It is not through praying prayers. It is not through doing our
best. It is not through religious activity of any kind.
It IS by grace (God’s provision for us) through faith (believing what God has said in the Bible).
You cannot save yourself from eternal judgement to come; only Christ can do that for you and he did
it freely.
