Why Did Christ Come?

The Lord Jesus Christ came to bridge a gap that only he could bridge.  The gap was the chasm that “existed” between God and Man.

That chasm was the result of the alienation formed between God and Man when Sin entered into the world.  Paul tells us “Christ Jesus came into the world to ‘save sinners’”

He gave himself as a gift.  A “ransom” is what Paul calls him.

The most interesting and important aspect of this gift is the function of a gift.  A gift, you see, must be free and received freely.  Anything else would be a reward.

Why did Christ come into the world?  To save sinners!  Sinners, however, are hard to find nowadays!  Everyone is a Baptist or Methodist or a Catholic.  But the Lord Jesus Christ came into the sorld to “save sinners”.
